The Monthly Scoop on the Lawn | July
Here in New Jersey, July has brought a significant amount of rainstorms, which has been beneficial for our irrigation systems but may also increase the risk of lawn diseases. The combination of high temperatures, rainfall, and humidity creates an ideal environment for various fungi and diseases to grow and spread. During this period, customers on our superintendent programs, which are treated with disease control, are thriving, looking happy and healthy. I want to remind you that following the BMP (best management practices) will reduce the chances of the lawn severely getting destroyed. Mow the lawn as high as possible to reduce stress and irrigate only when mother nature doesn’t provide 1” per week. Once the fall time comes around disease pressure will be reduced and we will begin our aggressive fall feeding program.
As we gear up for the Fall Core Aeration and Overseeding season, we're focused on selecting and procuring top-quality seed from our partners out West. As always we use a blue tag certified seed blend which is a blend of tall fescue, bluegrass and ryegrass. This seed undergoes thorough cleaning and testing to ensure it is free from weeds and other contaminants before delivery. At Greenstripe, we use premium seed and equipment for core aeration and seeding, including hand-touching bare spots and edges. We will even come back to reseed those "hard to grow" areas with our premium Aeration and Overseeding program. Our Aeration and Overseeding service has limited availability so don’t miss your chance to get on our list!
